She was born in Pennsylvania on September 7th, 1923, to Russian immigrant parents, Peter Felson and Julie Felson (Onniski). Mrs. Wender devoted much of her time and energy to her family and home, ensuring that they experienced the Russian and Polish cultural cuisine and traditions she so loved; she had a knack for making holiday events fun and meaningful. Her interests included family, bowling, cooking, and sewing. She was a skilled bowler and loved playing in local leagues. Her creative decorating was a family legend - the cakes and costumes she designed were her most fond memories. She was an active and devoted member of St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church in Thousand Oaks for over 40 years. Mrs. Wender is survived by two sons, David Wender (Diane) and Joe Wender (Diana); three grandsons, Paul Wender, Timothy Wender, and Daniel Wender and one granddaughter, Shae Wender. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Wender Sr., her bother, Michael Felson and her sister, Anne Felson. A Mass will be held Saturday Jan. 7, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Saint Paschals Baylon Church 155 Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. Julie Wender, 88, passed peacefully to our Lord on January 1, 2012, with her family by her side in Thousand Oaks, California.
