Julia Helen Snell, 53 year resident of Camarillo, passed away peacefully May 8, 2019. She died from complications of a hip fracture that she sustained from a fall in Feb. She was under the loving care of the Sisters, Servants of Mary, at Mary Health of the Sick, Thousand Oaks for the past month.

Julia was born to Michael Joseph and Helen Ruth "Bailey" Greeley on December 19, 1930 in Los Angeles. She was the youngest of six children. She spent all of her childhood years in Los Angeles and graduated from Belmont High School. Julia was proud of being an "Angeleno".

After High school, Julia worked for L.A.P.D. as well as becoming a dental assistant.

In 1953, Julia married the love of her life, John A. Snell. During their marriage, they traveled with the Navy before settling in Camarillo in 1966. Julia was a devoted mother to her four children as well as being a loving caregiver to her mother for 17 years. After the passing of her husband of 41 years, Julia remained in their home and lived independently for the next 25 years. She spent countless hours volunteering for Camarillo Hospice, Camarillo Health Care District, P.V. Hospital and in many capacities at Padre Serra Catholic Church. She loved to travel and had the opportunity to travel to many places such as Ireland, Canada, Alaska, Boston and many National Parks with her husband as well as with community and church groups.

Julia is survived by her children, Michael Snell, Ruth Ecklund (Mark), John Snell and Ann Hudacko (Rene), along with her grandchildren, Ian Snell, Mark Ecklund, Craig Hudacko, Keith Hudacko and Taylor Snell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her five siblings.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Griffin Family Funeral Chapels, 1075 E. Daily Dr., Camarillo. Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18 at Padre Serra Parish, 5205 Upland Rd., Camarillo. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery, Oxnard.

Julia's family would like to thank the Sisters and Staff at Mary Health and Dr. David Miller for her excellent care while there.
