Marilyn Yvonne Fields was born in Oxnard on June 18, 1939 and passed away peacefully on December 12, 2018 in Thousand Oaks.
The daughter of the late Marshall and Mildred Fields lived out her happy life in Thousand Oaks, and she never left. She attended Conejo Elementary School and Oxnard Union High School where she graduated in 1957. Her career included working for Tally Corp. for 10 years, made a move to Bowmar T.I.C. for 10 years and then went back to Tally Corp. for another 25 years. For 3 years she drove a van for Dial-A-Ride and then finally retired in 2005.
Marilyn loved to go to Vegas during the 60s to enjoy lounge shows and live entertainment. If you were lucky enough to hear her tell stories of past adventures, you knew she lived life to the fullest. Her favorite singers were Johnny Mathis (whom she got to meet), Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand and Whitney Houston. Marilyn also enjoyed watching sports, especially going to Dodger baseball games and watching the Lakers on TV. Marilyn also treasured animals and her beloved Wendy and Pookie will surely miss her presence.
Marilyn was a sweet and caring individual who was also full of spunk and humor. She was a true force of nature, she was loved by all and she is going to be greatly missed.
She is survived by her niece Candace Kelly (Jason); nephew Rod Fields (Norma) and their sons Tyler and Austin; best friend Sandra Rarick and family; goddaughter Danielle Cotwright and Lynn Cotwright, Tysyn Cotwright, and Trey Cotwright; cousins Tom Widick, Lana Capdeville, Judy Sheely, Jim Widick and their families; Lorraine Meadows and family; and Marvin Smith and family. She is preceded in death by her brother Don Fields; sister-in-law Lynda Fields; sisters Marsha Fields and Marjorie Fields; and nephew Jeff Fields.
Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 19 at Griffin Family Funeral Chapels, 101 E. Wilbur Rd., Thousand Oaks. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Valley Oaks Memorial Park, Westlake Village.
