April 16, 1925 ~ May 2, 2020 (age 95)

Camarillo, CA

Jeanne-Marie Prizer Money was born in Pressman’s Home, Tennessee on April 16, 1925.  She was the daughter of Colonel Oliver Hazzard Prizer (U.S. Army) and Helen Gehres Prizer, and niece of former President of the International Printing Pressmen and Assistants Union and Tennessee U.S. Senator George L. Berry and Marie Gehres Berry.

Raised in a military family, Jeanne-Marie lived throughout the continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, Panama and Europe during her lifetime. She was a graduate of Ramsay High School in Birmingham, Alabama in 1942 and then attended Ward Belmont College (now Belmont University) in Nashville, Tennessee and the University of Florida, Gainesville where she also worked for the Radio Station WRUF hosting a classical music program.  An accomplished pianist and singer, she played with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and entertained troops at Camp Blanding Florida during WW II. Traveling with her family to Germany after the war and during the Berlin Airlift of 1946-48, she received the Presidential “Thank You” citation and letter for work with the Bipartite Control Office in Frankfurt, Germany.  From there she worked with the Missouri Military District in St. Louis where she met Virgil M. Money, a Lieutenant fresh out of Officer Candidate School (USAF).  They were married in 1954 until his death in 2010.  She participated in the life of every community in which she lived. She was a Girl Scout leader in Anchorage, Alaska during the Alaskan Earthquake of 1964 where she received a citation from the Girl Scout Council of Alaska for her work. She worked for the Red Cross at Ft. Benning, GA and she was also active in local community activities and political issues in Camarillo in the 1970’s.  Enjoying good health almost until the end, she loved to travel the world by ship and went on 13 World cruises (4 months a year) visiting all seven continents.  She especially loved Africa, Hong Kong and Singapore and was proud to say she climbed to the top of the Great Wall of China.  She was a resident of Camarillo, CA for 47 years.

Jeanne-Marie is survived by her daughters Deborah Conner (husband Steve) of Davidson, North Carolina and Cathryn Daniero of Lake Sherwood; grandsons Jackson Conner of Joplin, Missouri and Austin Conner of Davidson, North Carolina; great grandchildren Mallorie Conner and Jackson Conner, Jr., plus many cousins throughout California.

The family would like to thank all those who cared for Jeanne-Marie in her final days, especially all of her friends who showed such kindness and love; and, the caregivers and hospice nurses of Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice.  A funeral service and burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
