Jonathan W. Yip, 23, of Moorpark, California passed away on November 15, 2021. He was born in Michigan in 1998 and was the beloved son of James W. and Christine L. [Mettert] Yip.
Jonathan graduated from Adolfo Camarillo High School in 2016 and had attended classes at Ventura Community College. He loved California, and especially Camarillo.
Jonathan was a very special young man with savant syndrome like abilities. As a child with autism, he was verbally limited and faced major academic challenges. He worked exceptionally hard and overcame overwhelming odds to become a talkative, engaging and interested young man.
He was able to manipulate electro–mechanical devices from a young age without formal training and had an insatiable curiosity to see how things worked. He became proficient as a teenager in fixing anything electronic. He made many friends by fixing their broken phones and computers, and took very little as compensation as he was passionate about restoring them. Jonathan and his father turned his hobby into a small business fixing many things for free. He enjoyed making Instagram videos showcasing the items he found and fixed.
Jonathan was a kind, compassionate and loving young man. He brought joy to people who got to know him as Jonathan and Dragonace, his gaming avatar. He enjoyed skiing at Mammoth Mountain, where he spent many weekends. He was much loved by his family and friends and visited them in Colorado, Michigan, Massachusetts, Nevada and, Rhode Island.
Besides his loving parents, Jonathan is survived by his half-sister and nephew, along with his grandfather, a great-aunt, 6 aunts, 5 uncles, and 14 cousins.
