Thousand Oaks, CA
Martha Amelia Johnson passed away peacefully on April 21, 2021. Martha was born on May 20, 1930 in Los Angeles to Felizardo and Amelia Escalante. She lived in Thousand Oaks for the last 57 years.
Her greatest legacy was her family; she was most proud of them and often boasted to others how much she simply adored them. Her friends were very dear to her as well. She had many lifelong friends that included wonderful neighbors, the Thousand Oaks Women’s Club and the Red Hat Society. These friends were very special to her and she would speak of them often, oh how she cherished her friendships.
Martha worked for the Southern California Gas Company early in her career where she met and married the love of her life, Richard Johnson. She was also an employee of the Conejo Valley Unified School District from which she retired. She was a devout Catholic who had an unending faith in God, attended Mass every Sunday, and prayed for everyone around her.
Martha is survived by her four children: Greg (wife Diane), Lynne (husband Ken), Jeff (wife Diana), and Rick (wife Laura); five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Johnson.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 4 at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 2475 Borchard Rd., Newbury Park. Interment will follow at Valley Oaks Memorial Park, Westlake Village. Following the graveside, a reception will be held at Calvary Community Church, 5495 Via Rocas, Westlake Village.
