Ron Bronson, 84, died surrounded by his family on March 7, 2021 in his home in Newbury Park. Ron was born June 29, 1936 in Banning, California to Lou and Catherine Bronson.
Ron loved traveling to Alaska and Hawaii. He also loved fly fishing and building and flying radio-controlled airplanes. Ron loved sky diving so much, that he would pay for his friends to jump with him. Ron’s last sky dive was in August 2020.
Ron proudly served in the Army Reserve in the cavalry division for 10 years and started Boy Scout Troop 629 in Newbury Park. Ron’s volunteerism and contributions and to the lives of many include Big Brothers, Interface in the Court-Appointed Special Advocate program, ARC of Ventura county, and the Ventura County Fire Department. He was given the Ellie Liston award for outstanding service and dedication to victims of crimes and also received the Polly Klaas award.
In 2016, Ron started a new Bible study and he found the love of Jesus. He loved his church family at Somis Community Church. In 2020 when COVID hit, Ron taught himself how to sew tote bags and made over 150 which he gave away.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 3 years, Joy; children Randy Bronson, Ricky Bronson, Lori Swan, and Robby Bronson as well as with their spouses; step children Lynda and Bud; brother Tom; sisters Theresa and Marilyn; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Toni Ann Bronson.
